What is an LOI?
A statement of intent. Nothing more.
A Letter of Intent is just a statement of intent. It does not come with any obligations whatsoever, but it does enable OwnStream to go to funding agencies and say "Look at how much support there is!". That is more or less what they are for, but as you may have noticed it is also used on the supporters page. That is to show the public how much support the platform has from creators.
Retraction and Secrecy
You can always back out, and nobody has to know.
The OwnStream LOI template has an explicit retraction clause, where you reserve the right to retract your LOI for any or no reason. You are not caught without a way out.
You can also write any additional conditions, clarifications, etc that you want to add to the LOI.
Finally, the LOI will be treated as confidential unless you explicitly permit otherwise in the LOI. You can also give your explicit, written permission separately.

Thank you for your support!
The LOI template is the one you should fill out if you wish to submit an LOI. It is intentionally provided in an editable format so you can make any necessary changes, as there are a few sections specifically intended for you to do so. Please only edit those sections.
Please read the Supplementary Information document. it contains the more complete explanation of OwnStream. If you have read the other pages on this site in full, then you know most of the important points, but the document contains important information that is not explained anywhere else. Signatories are assumed to know the contents of the supplementary information.
Please ensure that your email address is entered correctly, as you will be contacted by email to protect against fake submissions. Please consider using an email address that can easily be verified, e.g. the address that can be found by following your YouTube channel link (if applicable).
